The Times: Early Season Snow

Fashion & Music Show


Ben will be co-hosting a charity Fashion and Music Show at Clifton College on Thursday 5 July 2012. The event, celebrating the the schools 150th Anniversary, will take place on The Close with a mixture of vintage and designer brands on show from both local and national retail shops. Ben, who hosted the event in 2010, will be joined by William Hanson who hosted the show in 2008.

Charities supported; Opportunity International and orphan, Edwin Obala.


Classic Car Wheeze

Ben has been announced as the compère for Clifton’s Classic Car Wheeze, taking place on The Close on Sunday 20 May 2012 from 11am-4pm. Ben will be joined by Carol Vorderman and Paulina Gillespie, co-host of Heart FM’s Breakfast Show. Hundreds of vintage cars will be on display, and the afternoon will also be packed with other activities and displays – including a Spitfire flypast! The event is the first of many celebrating the schools 150th Anniversary.

The Lark Ascending

The Lark Ascending, a programme Ben has been working on as team assistant for BBC Four is broadcast tonight. The programme, presented by Dame Diana Rigg, recreates the premiere of the piece, which was held in Southampton Village Hall. 15 year old, Clifton College student, Julia Hwang performs the piece, with Charles Matthews (OC) playing the piano.

The Lark Ascending airs on BBC Four, Friday 12 January 2012, at 19.30.

BBC Inside Out West

Ben is currently working at the BBC in Bristol. Ben is working with the production team of BBC Inside Out West, a regional current affairs programme as a Team Assistant and researcher. Ben will be working with the team for Series 20 and 21.

BBC Inside Out West is broadcast weekly, Monday at 7.30pm on BBC One in the West.

London Ski Show 2011

Ben will be attending the London Ski & Snowboard Show on Wednesday 19 October for press and industry day as well as on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 October.

Ben is available for meetings at the show.


InTheSnowJet Magazine

InTheSnow Magazine are very pleased to announce their exclusive deal with SnowJet to be their in-flight Magazine publisher of choice.

This three year exclusive agreement will see InTheSnow magazine producing a bespoke version of the UK’s most read ski magazine for SnowJet customers to enjoy whilst on board. The first issue will launch in December 2011.

SnowJet’s philosophy of ‘fly closer ski longer’ is a reality, flying 25,000 British skiers into Sion and Chambery airports in the heart of the mountains, to reach some of Europe’s most popular ski destinations more quickly.

Vertical Drop Magazine

Vertial Drop Magazine

Ben Clatworthy can today announce his appointment as the news correspondent and reporter for Vertical Drop Magazine, the new summer action sports magazine from the team behind InTheSnow.

Vertical Drop Magazine launches in August 2011 and the team will publish one launch edition this summer. Six editions will be published in the summer of 2012 (April – September). 25,000 copies will be produced per month and distributed across 300 UK locations. Vertical Drop aims to fill a gap in the market for a soft adventure, summer action magazine.

Ben leaves Clifton College after 11 years

Having completed his A-Level exams Ben has now left Clifton College, the independent, co-educational boarding school where he has spent the last 11 years studying and living.

On leaving the school Ben commented, “I’ve had the best 11 years of my life at Clifton and although it’s very sad to leave such a fantastic institution, but at the same time what could be more exciting than such a great turning point in my life.”

Ben was a weekly boarder at the School which has students from 32 countries worldwide and studied A-Levels in English Literature, Economics and Geography.

Ben is now taking a Gap Year in order to ski and travel as well as enhancing and expanding his writing and media career. Ben Clatworthy wins at YJI Awards has covered Ben’s win at Youth Journalism International’s 2011 Excellence in Journalism Awards in the Sports Features category. Ben has recently been appointed as the Assistant Online Editor of alongside his work at InTheSnow Magazine.

InTheSnow’s Correspondent & Columnist, Ben Clatworthy has been announced as the winner of Youth Journalism International’s 2011 Excellence in Journalism Awards in the Sports Features category.

Ben won the award thanks to a selection of articles published for InTheSnow Magazine during the 2010/11 season. The awards honoured students in 16 different counties around the globe. Ben was one of two winners in England. Youth Journalism International’s second annual worldwide journalism contest awarded student journalists for their work in everything from news to photography and cartoons.

Ben is regular face at InTheSnow and Ben was recently announced as the Assistant Online Editor of the Website and will take up the position full time in July 2011. Ben said of the award, “It’s a fabulous award to win ann I’m well and truly over the moon. InTheSnow is a fantastic publication and I’m honoured to be a part of the team. I’m really looking forward to next season and starting work on the magazine again.”

Award-winning journalists from Europe, Africa and North America helped judge the yearly contest, including a media professional from ESPN.

“Students’ work is so often overlooked that we’re thrilled to highlight some of the best young journalists across the globe,” said Steve Collins, YJI’s board president. “Those who say journalism is dying should take a look at what we see day in and day out. They’d feel a lot better about the prospects for this crucial profession.”
