Film & Television

Ben is regularly seen presenting different films and videos and is comfortable in front of the camera.

Aged 14, Ben started producing a monthly news programme entitled ‘News 140’. The programme was quickly acknowledged by the BBC who were impressed by the high standard. He produced ‘News 140’ for three years, and to date the videos have received in excess of 23,000 views on YouTube.

As a result of News 140, Ben was approached to present a series of links for the weekly magazine programme ‘YourNews’. The programme, which was broadcast on the BBC News Channel and BBC One four times every weekend, travelled around the UK exploring local peoples’ stories. Ben’s links were used in a 2007 edition of the programme, broadcast from Rochester.

In April 2009, SKI TV’s programme ‘The Snowcast’ aired a report Ben had filmed about disabled skiing. It is now available online as a ‘Snowcast Extra’ on-demand film.

In May 2009, Ben was asked by BBC Points West to report on disabled education and the provisions available for disabled children in Bristol. This topic is close to Ben’s heart as his younger brother, who at the time was in the process of moving into secondary education, suffers from cerebral palsy.

Later that year, in November, following a stint of work experience at the BBC, the corporation employed Ben. He spent two series as the researcher for Inside Out West, a weekly current affairs programme for BBC One.

Whilst employed by the BBC, Ben worked on a number of half hour specials for both BBC One and BBC Four. These included The Lark Ascending, West Olympic Dreams, The Points West Election Debate, The Queen and I: 60 Years in the West and The Story of the Nation: Glastonbury.
