Ben fell in love with skiing aged three when he first stood on skis in France. Ben turned this passion for skiing into a sport when, aged 11, he joined the UK’s oldest ski team, Kandahar. This sport gave Ben his break into journalism; he found a niche writing about both the British and International races in which he was competing.
Since then Ben’s enthusiasm for the snow has led him to write winter sports news, features and blogs for some of the UK’s leading ski outlets.
Ben has skied throughout the Alps and the USA, visiting some of world’s premiere ski resorts along with some of the most obscure.
Ben joined InTheSnow in September 2009 as their race correspondent. The magazine, which is published monthly from October to March each year, is the UK’s most-read ski magazine. A year later Ben was appointed as InTheSnow’s news correspondent. In September 2012 he was promoted to the role of news editor. Ben also writes travel features and coordinates the editorial for the magazine.
SkiNews.co.uk is a website bringing the latest news to skiers and snowboarders 365 days a year. The website is managed by the same team as InTheSnow magazine keeping readers up-to-date even when the magazine is not on the shelves. Ben was appointed assistant online editor when the website launched in March 2011.
Ben joined PlanetSKI as a reporter just before its launch in October 2008. PlanetSKI is a mountain based website managed by James Cove, former BBC skiing correspondent. Ben later became the ‘racing and sports correspondent’ covering major skiing events such as the World Cup races, ski jumping and the British Championships to name a few. He covered the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and has written countless features and news articles for the website. Ben left PlanetSKI in July 2011 in order for him to further his contribution to InTheSnow.
Ski Club of Great Britain
Ben’s first ski article was written for the Ski Club of Great Britain in 2008. Since then, he has written several articles for their website. In 2009 Ben undertook a four-day work experience placement at the Ski Club. He subsequently produced video reports for the Ski Club.
